Much of what you see online today is not really accurate.
- I’m talking about the million dollar product launches. – There’s another about to start soon… brace yourself 😉
- The pictures of someone posing in front of a mansion, Ferrari, or Lamborghini –Lately, it’s the Tesla Model S
- Or the outward appearance that the “Gurus” really do have their “stuff” together – Preaching about success, fulfilment, and 4 hour work weeks
Sure some of it’s real.
But for a large (very large) number it’s all a facade.
- Those million dollar product launches? Often much of the revenue generated is spent on affiliates and advertising. More often than not the stress of the launch wasn’t worth the profit it generated.
- The pictures of posing in front of a mansion or dream car? They’re often rented (sometimes just for the day) or borrowed to provide the illusion of wealth.
- And the outward appearance of “having it all together”? I’ve heard enough stories of unkind and unprofessional behaviour towards affiliates, employees, and contractors, 60-80 hour work weeks, and still being only 1 pay check away from broke to know that the success stories aren’t always true.
So why am I telling you all this?
It’s not to blow the lid off fake and phony “Gurus” (though that’s an added bonus I must say)
But rather to caution you to never compare your businesses back end (the stuff you see) to someone else’s front end (the stuff they want you to see).
Just keep taking action. Keep putting strategy first. Keep focusing on serving your clients/customers. And keep trying to become better. That’s all you can, and need, to do.
Quick side note: The good news is our industry is becoming more and more transparent everyday. But we’ve still got a long way to go. (As my buddy Dave Rogenmoser likes to say, it’s time to drain the swamp)
So keep your chin up. You deserve a huge congratulations on how far you’ve come already! (how do I know you’re on the right path? Because you’re here now reading these emails and continuing to learn and train and hopefully taking some serious action!)
