Have you ever tried to assemble flat-pack furniture?
- You know… the Ikea/Home Depot/”Furniture-In-A-Box” type stuff that has 4000 pieces and all you get is an Allen Wrench (aka Hex Key) that bends on the first twist?
- Or have you ever tried to follow a recipe but your dinner comes out looking a whole lot different than the picture the cookbook promised? (time to order in)
- Or tried learning something new and tricky like a foreign language, chess, or even… digital marketing….
And wondered…
“I did everything EXACTLY like they told me… why does it work for them, but not me?“
I’ve asked that question in the past. Many, many times (especially when it comes to flat-pack furniture and cooking).
But after years of searching, studying, and questing, (safe indoor questing from the comfort of my office) I now have the answer.
The reason the pro’s are the pro’s when it comes to cooking, chess, digital marketing, and yes even flat-pack furniture assembly (yes… there are people who do that professionally god bless them)
Well the difference between the pro’s and everyone else is…
Strategy.
A deep, unwavering commitment to strategy first – and tactics second.
- It’s the reason some people can memorize a new language in a matter of months. (There’s a strategy to memorization)
- And why some people can put together an entire Ikea kitchen in just a few hours (There’s a strategy to how you lay everything out, and follow the instructions which prevents having to go back and do it all again)
- And it’s the reason good copywriters make sales with direct mail, video, Facebook Ads, and webinars. (Because the tactics are secondary to the strategy every single time.)
