- Traffic jams.
- Babies screaming on airplanes.
- People in coffee shops yelling into their cellphones oblivious to those around them…
Those are 3 things that kinda annoy me. (And now I’m one of those dudes with the babies who occasionally get a little cranky on the plane. Sorry everyone!)
But there’s one thing that annoys me even more than all of those combined…
And that is the failure to take this next single, life changing, business saving, money making, piece of absolutely crucial advice.
(You have been warned!)
Here it is:
Invest in marketing your business BEFORE you’re unable to invest in marketing your business.
Or put another way.
Do marketing when things are good – so you don’t panic when things are bad.
Want to guess at the #1 time someone reaches out to me for marketing help is?
Yup you guessed it: People are most likely to reach out when business is slow.
The problems with that however are twofold:
- Desperate times call for desperate measures which means making fast, rash, often bad marketing decisions.
- Business being slow means no marketing budget which further limits the available options and forces you to have to pick between a bad choice and a worse one
The flip side of this is of course to continually (as in never, ever stop) invest in your businesses marketing knowing darn well it’s a vital business function and responsible for keeping your business viable, profitable, and alive.
