The easiest path to success I know of

If you’ve ever hired or worked with a marketing agency before then the odds are good you’re going to understand what I’m about to talk about.

And if you’ve never hired or worked with an agency then what I’m about to tell you may sound completely unbelievable –  or may even look like I made it up just to prove a point.

I assure you. It’s true.

So let’s dive in shall we?

When I first got started in the agency biz I read that you should RUN from clients who bad mouth their previous agencies.

Fair advice I thought.

After all… if they talk bad about them then the odds are good they’re a trouble client, are going to be a royal pain in the butt to work with, and will likely trash you when you’re done too.

But then a funny thing started happening.

More and more clients kept coming to me with some pretty bad previous experiences. At first I shrugged them off…

But over the years I’ve watched this trend escalate and become more pronounced each and every single year up to the point that now – almost 1 in 2 new clients have some variation of a “horror story” from a previous agency or consultant they worked with.

Does this make me sad? Frustrated? Disappointed? Discouraged? And wondering what the heck is going on out there?

Yes. To all of the above.

But I’m not surprised when I see posts pop up in Facebook groups like:

  • How to start a digital marketing agency with no experience

And….

  • How to get your first 10k client even if you’ve never run an ad before

Or my least favorite of all:

  • “Hey guys, I just got my first client, how do I run a Facebook Ad?”

Say WHAT?!?!

So that’s the bad news. The industry is kinda screwed.

The good news for me? It makes my life easier because I’ve spent the time (years and years) building up a solid reputation (with valuable content) as someone you can trust and who gets the job done (with case studies and 7 figure results for my clients).

The good news for you? This same thing is probably going on to some degree or another in your industry too! Which means if you spend the time building up Authority in your industry and leveraging it in the right way – well – the sky’s the limit!

Not to mention you’ll be doing your market a HUGE favor by being one of the good people they can count on and trust.

And we need more people like that in every industry.
