The “All Your Eggs in One Basket” Marketing Strategy

There sure is a lot of conflicting information out there eh?

Not just in the diet and fitness industries later (keto, paleo, whole 30, wth?)

But also (and maybe even more so) in marketing and business.

Yesterday alone I saw 2 different posts from 2 different (relatively well known) guys I know.

One said something along the lines of “Never put all your eggs in one basket”

(he was referring to relying solely on 1 traffic source, 1 client, or 1 offer)

And another said “Forget plan B. Having a backup gives you a reason to not go all in and win. Burn the boats and forge ahead!”

(he was referring to the fight to the death mentality popularized by the “hustlers” and others from that school of thought)

So which one is right?

Impossible to truly say…

A better question for me to answer is which one do I abide by?

And the answer is…

Both!

(Sorry for the cop-out answer but hear me out)

You see looking back on my life there are very clear and distinct times when I’ve either burned the boats or hedged my bets.

And there were times when both of these strategies worked for me – or failed me miserably.

So my guidance and suggestion to you really is situation – and personality – dependent.

Some thrive on risk and chaos.

Others crumble and quit.

Some perform better with a safety net.

Others use it as an excuse to never truly grow.

Ultimately whichever way you go is up to you.

BUT…

If I HAD to give some practical, actionable advice…

This is what I’d say…

Start with 1 offer, 1 traffic source, and 1 funnel

And ONLY when it’s successful should you move onto a second, third, or fourth in any of the above categories.

Put all your eggs in one basket…

Until that basket is full

Then you gonna need another basket (or things gonna get messy)
