I was playing a board game with my kids the other day (Connect 4 just in case you were curious) and I heard on knock on the front door.
It turns out our neighbor had received some of our mail by mistake and was just dropping it off.
Not a big deal ordinarily.
But you could tell there was a bit of confusion in her eyes (…maybe even concern) when she saw me open the door in sweat pants and a t-shirt and then tried to piece together why a grown man was playing board games with his kids at 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon.
I could almost read her thoughts:
“Why isn’t he at work?”
“Is he ok?”
“Are the kids ok?”
“Why is he so bad at Connect 4?”
The answers to all these questions are of course:
I’m not at work because I built a passive income producing business that pays me whether I’m working or playing. I’m not just ok, I’m better than I ever thought I would be. And so are my kids who I always get to be there for. Get to drop off and pick up from school. Get to take on exciting adventures around the world. And yeah, get to stay home and play boardgames with whenever we feel like.
As for why I’m so bad at Connect 4, I honestly don’t know.
It’s brutal how badly I get beat at that game and on such a consistent basis!
But let’s talk passive income for a second.
